In Erie, Pennsylvania, the term "World Wide Web" did not appear in the local Erie Times-News until March 1995. This was nearly two years after the World Wide Web was released into the public domain by its inventor, Tim Berners-Lee. "Might as well be as upfront," reporter Dave Richards wrote. "When it comes to computerspeak, I don't know gigabytes from Gidget."

I stared at the photo with disdain, maybe even fury. The image was obviously created with artificial intelligence, an obviously A.I. child holding an paintbrush and standing by an obviously A.I. painting of their non-existent military veteran father who, it was implied, had died in combat. “Nobody ever likes or shares my posts,” the caption read with a frowny-face emoji.

In George Orwell's 1946 essay "Why I Write," he broke down what he called the "four great motives to writing." All four of these motives, he believed, "exist in different degrees in every writer," although in different proportions from writer to writer and, even then, it fluctuated individually throughout one's life.
